Activity Overview

Zimmer Children's Museum is the only children's museum located in the city of Los Angeles. This great museum located in the city's Miracle Mile district is full of fascinating exhibits and activities geared towards young children from ages 0 to 8. Your young ones will delight as they fly planes, drive fire trucks, and tend to patients as they play and learn.

The museum's exhibits focus on teaching young children about concepts such as identity, compassion, diversity, community responsibility, and taking care of the planet through fun, interactive displays.

Things to Do

  • If your kids love music, make sure to stop by the Rhythms of the World exhibit, where they can experiment with musical instruments from all over the world.
  • Theatrical children will love The Mann Theatre, where they can put on a show with friends and other visitors.
  • Young children can learn all about the importance of water at the Water Ways exhibit, which teaches them to take care of the planet.
  • Don't miss the Discovery Airport exhibit, where kids can fly a plane to distant lands in order to learn about foreign cultures.
  • The museum also provides activities for children under 18 months of age, including a toddler bounce room, a story corner, and a water table where they can splash around.

Zimmer Children's Museum Insider Tips

  • If you get hungry during your visit, just head to Main Street or the Blue Bagel Cafe, which serves food from a variety of cultures in order to teach children about other areas of the world.
  • Bring your baby to V.I.B. (Very Important Babies) hour each Wednesday morning from 9 until 10 a.m., when the museum is open exclusively for children under 2 so that they can play in a safe, relaxed setting without older children running around.
  • When the kids get tired or the adults need to rest, head to the Community Park, which provides a beautiful "greenspace" where you can relax for a moment or two.
  • Zimmer Children's Museum is a perfect place for grandparents to take the kids on an outing, especially on Thursdays, when grandparents enter free!
  • It is possible to park for free in the visitor lot on the west side of the museum, but space is limited.
