Activity Overview
Escape the city, get your dose of nature, and engage in outdoor activities at Yellow River Park. Spend your day hiking, running, mountain biking, and horse riding. The 566-acre park features a 12-mile trail suitable for mountain biking, hiking, and horse riding, a paved multi-purpose trail, pavilions and grills, plus a playground for the kids.
Things to Do
- Plan for a quick weekend getaway with the family. Pack food and drinks and wear your hiking/running shoes. The trail starts at the paved trail and continues on along the riverside. The hike is scenic as you go through a forested trail. You're in for a surprise as you get near towards the end with a view of a terraced waterfall. Bring your camera and take great photos too!
- The same trail can be used for mountain biking and horse riding too. The park offers equestrian trailer parking for your convenience.
- Hungry after your morning hike? Bring out your food and drinks and go on a picnic at the pavilion. You may also use the grill to complete your picnic/barbecue experience.
Yellow River Park Insider Tips
- Download the map and bring your GPS. The trails can be quite confusing once you veer away from the river. The recommendation is to stay close to the river throughout the hike.
- Since the place is close to downtown Atlanta, many groups frequent this place on weekends. If you want to avoid other hikers/riders, visit on weekdays.
