Activity Overview
Wingaersheek Beach is a family-friendly beach with white sands, crystal clear waters, and huge rocks in the water that you can climb around at low tide.
The sandbar goes out very far at low tide and the water stays shallow for a long time. It's spectacular to be able to walk way, way out on the sand bar to skip in the shallow water.
Things to Do
- The tide pool formations at low tide create perfect places for kids to get up-close-and-personal with snails, tiny fish & shrimp, hermit crabs, and other creatures. Check the tide charts.
- There are no real waves to speak of, even at high tide, so it's great for little kids. No boogie boards are allowed. Lifeguards are on duty during the summer.
- This is a carry-in/carry out beach. You must take your trash with you. "Nothing should be left behind but your footprints".
Wingaersheek Beach Insider Tips
- Best to arrive before 9:00am on weekends - the lot fills up quickly. Parking is free after 5:00pm. Bring a picnic dinner and enjoy the sunset.
- While there is a snack bar in the parking lot (burgers & dogs), it's a healthier idea to pack a lunch & drinks. You can often find an Italian Ice vendor on the beach during the summer.
- It's really fun to visit Wingaersheek Beach after 5:00pm as parking is free and the beach provides a whole different experience in the evening. The sunsets are particularly beautiful here. Due the unique position of the beach the sun actually sets over the water like it would on the west coast.
