The University of Kansas Natural History Museum provides a fun and informative experience for absolutely no admission fee. It is a wonderful place to bring children to educate them on the world that surrounds them; although parents are sure to learn a thing or two as well! The Museum is at the center of a well respected research facility that employees over one hundred researchers and has a collection of millions of fossils and artifacts. The breadth and depth of their exhibits is an absolute joy.

Things to Do

• The Museum provides some really fun and engaging self-led guides on their website that can be used to explore the exhibits. You can find checklists with titles like Explore and Discover and Inspect and Detect.
• If you would prefer there are sheets that challenge you to explore with the aid of poems and images.
• Best of all are the scavenger hunts where you must look for answers using the exhibits as clues. Check out the full list of guides here. There are so many that every time you visit the Museum you can experience it in a new way!

University of Kansas Natural History Museum Insider Tips

• The Museum is closed on Mondays and also on major holidays. It is open to the later time of 8 pm on Thursdays.
• Although admission is free the Museum suggest a contribution of $5 for adults and $3 for children to help the maintain the exhibits. It's a fair price for a what is a great Museum.
