Tulsa Air and Space Museum & Planetarium

Activity Overview

This aerospace museum was built to help preserve Oklahoma's aerospace heritage. TASM is located in a hangar at the northwest corner of the Tulsa International Airport. The museum features various exhibits showcasing the history and innovations throughout the years in the aerospace industry, an MD-80 plane, and a Planetarium. There are also interactive experiments and a flight simulator for kids to enjoy.

Things to Do

• Learn how aviation has progressed in Oklahoma through the permanent exhibits. Displays range from The Early Birds, featuring artifacts from the aviation pioneers, to The Space Age. There is also a section for a Featured Aircraft where a significant aircraft is on display. Ask any of the staff for the background and history of the aircraft.
• On the second floor, kids will have fun exploring the hands-on exhibit using a remote-controlled flight simulator.
• American Airlines has donated an MD-80 plane and as of end of 2014, there are ongoing works to convert the plane to a Learning Center and Flight Theater. Visit their website or call the museum to know more about the MD-80 Discovery Center.
• Visit the Planetarium and watch full-dome videos about the galaxy. There are shows about basic astronomy, constellations, earth science, and current astronomical events. Prior to the shows, there is a brief interactive presentation of tonight's sky. Visit their website for the viewing schedule.

• Children from ages 4 and below get free admission. The General Admission fee already includes one show at the Planetarium. Tickets for additional shows can be bought at a separate price.
