The Travis Air Force Base Heritage Center is an aviation museum in Travis Air Force Base, which is located approximately 40 miles southwest of Sacramento, California. It contains one of the largest collections of military aircraft in the region, including over 30 different aircraft. It also features a number of fascinating exhibits related to military aviation, as well as kid-friendly attractions like a space capsule that little ones can explore. Things to Do

• Explore the numerous military aircraft on display outside of the museum - they include bombers like the B-29 "Superfortress", fighters like the F-104A "Starfighter", and utility aircraft like the "Albatross" amphibian, which can operate on land, water, snow, and ice!
• Check out the museum's indoor space exploration exhibit! Highlights include a prototype rocket engine used in the precursor to today's space shuttle, a full-scale model of the one-man Mercury spacecraft, and a model of a two-man Gemini space capsule.
• Learn about military aviation history by viewing the museum's detailed exhibits, which cover topics including types of military aircraft, the Tuskegee Airmen, the Berlin Airlift, and the history of Travis AFB.

• Since the museum is located on an air force base, it has strict security requirements. If you don't have a US Government ID, call ahead to find out what type of ID or documentation you'll need to bring along in order to visit - generally this only applies to visitors over 18.
