Activity Overview

Don't miss exploring our nation's first zoo which is chock full of animals both in caged displays and roaming around a unique set of mesh-covered pathways overhead.

Wide-eyed visitors can look up and see lions, tigers, jaguars, orangutans, lemurs and monkeys wandering through corridors above and can appreciate the crocodiles, bears, zebras and so much more down below.

In addition, the Aviary Center provides the opportunity to view a stunning array of rare birds, and the "KidZooU" allows for young ones to pet and brush sheep, small horses and goats, then see coral reef fish, colorful parakeets and interesting insects in the Indoor Education Center and Wildlife Academy.

Things to Do

Inside the 4-D Migration Theater, one can trace the path of Otis the Oriole as he travels south for the winter from the zoo's location in Fairmount Park.

The zoo's Treehouse offers children a view of the world from the animal's perspective.

Zip 400 feet into the air on the Zoo Balloon and get a spectacular view of the animals.

Take a ride on the Amazon Rainforest Carousel.
