Activity Overview

The Name Game is a fun game like charades but actors are allowed to use words and actions to convey the identity of the person listed on the slip of paper that kids or families draw out of the jar or bowl. Players will come up with name contributions for this game so instruct players to pick famous people, characters or people's names who would be familiar to the group.

Materials Needed

  • Paper
  • Pencils
  • Jar or Bowl
  • Timer

How to Play

  1. Give all players 10 strips of paper. Instruct them to write down one name on each paper. This can be the name of anyone famous or otherwise ( obviously people the that the group is familiar with works best)
  2. All players fold up their slips of paper and place in the community bowl or jar.
  3. With the use of a minute timer, each player goes up individually and pulls out a random slip of paper and tries to give verbal hints and clues to describe the person whose name they drew from the jar.
  4. The other players try to guess as many as they can within the time frame set.
  5. A designated scorekeeper keeps track of the amount acted out and guessed correctly
  6. When the timer goes off, the next player goes up and pulls out a slip of paper and acts out or uses words to describe the person on the skip over paper and the gallery tries to guess as many as possible in the allotted time and so on.
