Activity Overview

The Flume Gorge is a beautiful nature Oasis in the Franconia Notch state Park in Franconia, NH. It is a natural wonder showcasing waterfalls, bridges, pools and stunning mountain views. A nature trail passes through the Flume Gorge, there are many things to explore for the kids, the visitor center has exhibits to explore. The gorge extends about 800 feet at the base of Mount Liberty, the gorge was discovered in 1808. Visitors can tour the gorge May through October. A beautiful and scenic spot to visit, don't forget to bring your camera.

Things to Do

  • The trip to the flume gorge begins at the visitor center where you can watch a short video about the history of the gorge.
  • On your way you can see glacial boulders, granite rocks, bridges, boardwalks, views of the avalanche falls, and the narrow cave you can crawl known as the wolf den.
  • The hiking trip is doable for people of all ages, even toddlers, there is an admission fee, but kids under the age 5 pay no admission.
  • You cannot bring dogs. There is a cool scavenger hunt for kids.
