For 80 years, the Connecticut Beardsley Zoo has been preserving and protecting the livelihood of endangered species and providing visitors with the incredible experience of getting up close and personal with over l000 animals. Visitors of all ages will enjoy observing a day spent at this lovely zoo.
Things to Do
Host a birthday party or just peruse this quaint zoo on a self guided tour. There is lots to see as you meander through the wide pathways. You will find the habitats of animals such as tigers, bears, meerkats, Fox, monkeys, alpaca, antelope, bison and many more. Have lunch at the Peacock Cafe, make a wish in the large fountain, enjoy a picnic lunch, view hundreds of animals, pose for classic pictures on the animal statues and ride on the stunning Carousel.
Beardsley Zoo Insider Tips
- The zoo is very stroller friendly except for the rainforest exhibit, in which you will need to park your stroller.
- Strollers are available for rent. They are sit-up strollers that are perfect for toddlers but not acceptable for infants.
- There are plenty of picnic tables available. You may opt to pack a picnic lunch or to purchase lunch from the Peacock Cafe near the carousel.
- Don't visit this zoo without spending some time riding the oldtime carousel. It is definitely a treasure within the zoo itself. The cost is $2 per person., Adults are strongly encouraged to ride with their little ones.
- Check with your local Connecticut Library to see if there is a museum pass available for your trip.
- If you become a member of the zoological society that day, you gain free admission.
