Activity Overview

Carry out your fitness routine without the need to watch the lights or worry about colliding with a vehicle at The 606 Trail in Chicago. The local government turned the old freight railway into a 2.7-mile elevated trail spanning from Ashland Avenue to Lawndale Ave. Before the renovation, The 606 was more popularly known as the Bloomingdale Trail.

Things to Do

  • Go for a walk, jog, or ride a bike at The 606 trail. Use the interactive map here to check access points going up to the trail. Run the entire trail from Wicker Park and Logan Square or stop by the parks to spend some quiet time with nature.
  • Sit on one of the benches and watch the people walk or jog by. At times, the community surrounding the area installs works of art at different parts of the trail.
  • While there are no vehicle traffic here, you'll have to watch out for human traffic. Remember that you are sharing the trail with walkers, families with strollers, children, and boarders especially during weekends.

  • If you prefer to go out at night, the trail is lit well but take extra caution towards the western end as joggers have reported robbery on this end.
