The Submarine Force Library & Museum in Groton, Connecticut is the only existing museum operated by the U.S. Navy. Its most famous artifact is the USS Nautilus (SSN-571), the world's first nuclear-powered submarine. The museum also contains over 30,000 other artifacts, including historic submarines, weapons, and photographs. Things to Do

• Explore the USS Nautilus, a nuclear-powered submarine that traveled under the polar ice cap to the North Pole during the Cold War and was used by the Navy until 1980.
• View the full-size replica of Bushnell's Turtle, which was the first submarine ever to be used in combat back in 1776.
• Take some time to look at the four midget submarines located along the museum's front walk, including a Japanese "Type A", which is the kind of submarine that was used to attack Pearl Harbor.
