Activity Overview
Does the weather have you stuck inside and you are wondering what to do to occupy your active children. Try creating a sticky web out of painter's tape and allowing kids to crumble up and throw pages from magazines, junk mail, or wrapping paper at the sticky side. Listed below are some ideas on how to make this game your own. Children will have great fun while getting their bodies moving and practicing their throwing. Cleanup is a breeze too. Have the little ones race the kitchen timer to tear down the web and recycle the paper that may have not made it onto the web.
Materials Needed
- Painter's Tape or masking tape
- Pom Poms
- A doorway
How to Make It and Play
- Stick painter's tape in straight and diagonal lines that span across the top half of a doorway.
- Criss Cross the tape in different angles to create what looks like a giant spider web.
- Give the kids each a bowl of pom poms to throw at the web and see how many they can get to stick.
- If you'd like, you can use a sharpie marker or different color tape to signify different point values to aim for on the tape. Tally points in the game if you'd like.
- You can play in a number of different ways. You can have a free for all of throwing paper and throwing to get it to stick on the tape or you can have a more organized game where you take turns throwing from a tape line of the floor, maybe starting close and moving back in increments when you get one stuck.
