The Statue of Liberty is a world renowned monument and one of the most iconic structures of the United States. The colossal statue was a gift from the people of France and was dedicated on October 28th, 1886. It is recognized as a symbol of freedom, democracy and of course, liberty. Liberty Island is a national park and can be visited by the public. It is also possible to access the statue itself.

Things to Do

• There are three different types of tickets you can get to visit Liberty Island and the Statue.
  • The cheapest is to explore the grounds only without access to the Statue.
  • The Pedestal ticket allows you to explore the base of Lady Liberty.
  • As the name suggests the Crown ticket allows you to go all the way up to the top to appreciate a breathtaking view of New York City. If choosing the Crown ticket you should be aware that visiting the crown will require you to walk up 377 steps of a spiral staircase.
• There is no elevator access and no bathroom at the top. The National Park recommends that reservations be made well in advance for both the Pedestal and Crown Tours.

• 5 separate webcams are set up on the Statue which the public can view at any time. Three of these cameras give glorious views out over the city while two keep their view on Lady Liberty and her torch.
• Statue Cruises provide the official ferry service that goes to and from Liberty Island. You can book ticket for their ferries on their webpage. You can also buy your tickets to visit the Statue's pedestel and crown through Statue Cruises.
