The Staten Island Children's Museum is a an interactive learning and play space for children. Found on New York's iconic island this Museum has a number of hands-on exhibits along with workshops and play areas for children. They also run various programs, host parties and can accomodate group and school visits.

Things to Do

• If you want to teach your children about nature and the importance of living a green liestyle this could be the place to do it. For starters they can head to the Bug & Other Insects exhibit where they will learn all about creepy crawlies.
• Outside they can explore the Graden Terrace where plants are grown to feed their insect friends. Then you can take them to the Green Living Room whose lights, TV and electrical appliances are all powered by clean wind energy.
• The Museum organizes a number of ongoing pograms. These include daily programs like story time and animal time where they help to feed and care for the museum's wide range of animals.
• On Wednesday afternoon there is a clay art class, Thursday sees a paint class and on Friday kid's can enjoy a cooking class. There are also special programs organized spceifically for familys and toddlers.

Staten Island Children's Museum Insider Tips

• The Museum is closed on most Mondays.
• Grandparents are free on Wednesdays.
• There is a free ferry that goes across to Staten Island. Depending on the time of day this ferry leaves on the hour, every half hour or every fifteen minutes. This ferry leaves from Whitehall Street Lower on Manhatten and will drop you off at St. George on the Island. From here you can grab a taxi or a bus to the Children's Museum.
• The Staten Island Children's Museum is included as one of the sites on the New York Pass. If you plan on doing a lot of sightseeing around NY it might be a good idea to get this pass as it grants entry to over 80 common tourist attractions.
