Activity Overview
The St. Louis Carousel is one of the most popular attractions in Faust Park, a nearly 200-acre public park located in the St. Louis suburb of Chesterfield, Missouri. This historic carousel dates back to the 1920s, when it was installed in a small amusement park. In the 1960s, the entire amusement park burned down, but the carousel and its beautiful hand-carved animals survived. Today, visitors can enjoy rides on the carousel as well as several other family-friendly park attractions, including Faust Historic Village, the historic Thornhill farm, and the Butterfly House.
Things to Do
- Go for a ride (or two) on the St. Louis Carousel - there are over 60 animals to choose from, and rides cost just $2.
- Explore the Faust Historic Village, which features four houses and other architectural structures that represent life in the area between 1840 an 1910.
- Enjoy a sunny day by going for a family hike along the park's Governor Bates Trail.
- Visit the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House, which features over 60 butterfly species as well as other live animals in a number of fascinating exhibits.
