Activity Overview
The Southeastern Railway Museum is a popular transportation museum located in Duluth, Georgia, which is just 25 miles northeast of Atlanta. In 2000, it became the official transportation history museum for the state of Georgia, and features over 90 historic train cars and locomotives on a 35-acre site. Visitors are welcome to tour its informative exhibits, go for brief rides in restored trains, and pose for photos with historic artifacts such as a private train car that was used by U.S. President Warren G. Harding.
Things to Do
- Visit the historic Superb, the second oldest steel private car in existence, which was used by U.S. President Warren G. Harding on a tour across the United States in 1923. It also carried his body home to Washington, D.C. after his death.
- Explore the retired railroad equipment on display outdoors, including diesel and steam locomotives, as well as passenger, private, baggage, and freight cars.
- Go for a brief ride on one of their historic cabooses, which have been restored to their original condition.
