Children of all age groups will have fun creating these easy to make Soda Bottle Bird Feeders with Wooden Spoon Perches. Materials Needed
- Soda Bottle
- Wooden Spoons
- Bird Seed
- Scissors
- Craft Wire
- Plastic disposable plate
How to Make It
- Take an empty soda bottle use your scissors to puncture and cut two or three 2 inch holes in the soda bottle. For each hole that you make you will have to make a corresponding smaller 1 inch hole exactly across from the hole on the other side of the bottle.
- Slide a wooden spoon in face up position weaving the handle through the large hole and then the smaller hole. This will create a perch to hold the birdseed and for the birds to rest on.
- Fill the bottle with bird seed making sure that the bird seed starts to emerge onto the spoons. As the birds eat the seed, more will gradually fall out to the spoon. It should not continuously pour out.
- Cut a small hole in the center of a disposable plastic plate just big enough to fit over the mouth of the bottle and place it over the top of the neck of the soda bottle. This will keep the rain off of the bird seed.
- Cut a good sized piece of craft wire and wrap it securely around the spout of the bottle and make it loop securely above it so that you can hang the feeder.
