Activity Overview

Seminole Indian Museum preserves history of the Seminole Indian tribe, the museum displays over 30,000 unique historical artifacts and exhibits, the museum opened in 1997 in Clewiston, Florida. The Seminole Indian museum boasts a one mile long boardwalk, the board walk leads to a recreated Indian village where visitors can see handcrafts by the traditional Indian artisans. The museum offers self-guided tours, guided tours can also be arranged on appointments. The museum is open to tours seven days a week.

Things to Do

• Start your visit with an orientation film that depicts the culture and traditions of the Seminoles in 1890s in Florida.
• There are wonderful exhibits to see at the museum, the 40 life-size figures in the museum perform everyday activities and chores from hunting, canoeing to dancing.
• There are dioramas and vast native American collection including clothing, baskets, dolls, jewelry, manuscripts, arms and much more.
• The boardwalk takes you through lush vegetation, plants, the clan pavilion, ceremonial grounds, you can spot wildlife, and learn about the native flora and fauna.
• The Seminole village is a recreated village, you can see villagers making handcrafts and traditional items at the village. They create and sell beadwork, basketry and wood carvings.
• At the end visit the museum store for books, clothing and native American handcrafts.
