Activity Overview
The San Diego Botanic Garden is a great outdoor activity for you and your family. There are nearly 40 acres of gardens with a huge variety of plants from a variety of different environments and locations. There are fine examples of horticulture from the garden's Californian doorstep and plants from much further afield.
Things to Do
- See the botanic garden's huge range of plants and trees.
- Go for a relaxing walk. The botanic garden includes around four miles of trails that weave in and out of the displays and arrangements.
- Pick up a souvenir of your visit to the botanic gardens with a gift from the Garden Shops. There are a selection of knick knacks and and and items for you to take home with you. If you'd prefer something "greener", you can pick up something floral from the Plant Shop.
- Take the little ones to the Hamilton Children's Garden for an activity that is geared specifically towards them.
- If walking around has made you hungry, stop at one of the number of eateries. The food there caters to all different tastes and comes from a whole host of different cuisines. Even the pickiest of eaters should easily be able to find something they like!
San Diego Botanic Garden Insider Tips
- Make sure to check which plants are in bloom before you go. While botanic gardens are great places to visit, they're not very impressive when all the plants or dead and dying.
