Activity Overview
The Sacramento Children's Museum is all about hands-on exploration and allowing children to discover the world in their own way. Given the freedom to problem solve for themselves kids properly engage with their environment and strengthen their developing capabilities. If this all sounds a lot like work that is because this Children's Museum believes that for children play is a form of productive work, a way for them to expand their skill set and their knowledge of the world.
Things to Do
- Children can role play at the Leo's Market and Farmer's Market where they are tasked with either acting as the shop owner or the shopper. Either way they can learn all about fruit, vegetables and proper nutrition along with proper etiquette in stores. More fun can be had at My Neighborhood where they are exposed to different cultures and peoples just as adults are in today's multicultural society.
- Kids get a great opportunity to experiment at the Waterways exhibition. Here they can mess around with water flows, build a boat and more. They can have just as much fun with such basic laws of physics as velocity, gravity, motion, friction and acceleration over at the Airways and Raceways exhibit which reveals many of the world's small mysteries to them!

- One drawback of the museum despite its imaginative exhibits is that it is quite small. As a result it can fill up quickly during busy periods, particularly over the weekend. So if you can try to visit during weekdays.
