Activity Overview

The Reiffs Gas Station Museum is just around half an hour from downtown Sacramento and is a different type of museum for you and your little ones to enjoy. Since the year 2000, the museum has provided residents and visitors a place to witness plenty of different automotive artefacts and motoring memorabilia from the sorely-missed car cultures of the 1950s and 1960s.

The museum you can see today is entirely the work of one man, Mark Reiff. Reiff converted his entire home in an effort to preserve the nostalgia of the time. If you'd like to visit the Reiff's Gas Station Museum, you can do so by appointment only!

Things to Do

• Check out the vintage 1956 Chevy tow truck! It also looks an awful lot like a certain famous tow truck from a certain Disney Pixar movie...
• Visit a 1950s gas station! Mark Reiff built up his collection of antique gas station memorabilia over the years and today you and your family can enjoy some of the coolest stuff from the 1950s and 1960s.
• Hang out at the museum's patio, bar, or barbecue area. It's up to you whether you want to sit on an authentic bar stool or you'd prefer an old-fashioned diner-style booth.
• See the antique diner exhibit or the antique movie theater exhibit. Both exhibits were put together by Mark, who curated the collection of appropriate items for each exhibit.
• Feel like seeing something a little different? Mark put together a car crash and plane crash exhibit featuring a Cessna and a vintage car. This is perhaps the maddest thing you'll see in any museum.
