Activity Overview

Red Butte Garden is a public garden on the campus of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. The over 100-acre garden is the state's official arboretum, and features diverse display gardens, plant collections, and 5 miles of hiking trails. In the summertime, the garden is also used to hold a variety of concerts and live performances in its impressive 3,000-seat amphitheatre.

Things to Do

• Take your little one to explore nature in the Children's Garden.
• Explore the garden through the Garden Adventures class. Each month, families with small children are invited to the garden to learn about topics like seeds, miniature gardens, bulbs, trees, and honeybees!
• Go on a guided tour of the gardens! They offer complimentary tram tours every day, or you can go on a hiking tour of the garden with a docent.

• Attend a free garden event! Red Butte Garden is part of the ZAP Free Days program, which invites visitors to the garden for free several times each year.
