Activity Overview

Preservation Hall is an historic music venue in the heart of the French Quarter in New Orleans. It was founded in the 1960s in order to preserve and promote traditional New Orleans jazz music, which it does by providing intimate jazz concerts every night. It is also the home of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, which performs New Orleans jazz at sites all over the world. If you're interested in experiencing one of New Orleans' most important cultural traditions, then Preservation Hall is a must-visit attraction.

Things to Do

  • Attend a live performance at Preservation Hall! Families are welcome to enjoy live jazz performances any night of the year for between $15 and $20 per person.
  • View their calendar in order to learn about upcoming performances and events at Preservation Hall that you can attend with your family.

Preservation Hall Insider Tips

  • There are three performances every night starting at 8:00 p.m., so if you want to attend the earliest show make sure to get in line early.
  • If you don't want to wait in line before the show in order to pick up general admission tickets, you can reserve "Big Shot" seating online in advance, which guarantees you some of the best seats in the house for between $35 and $50.
  • Feel free to bring along your own drinks - none are provided and it can get hot in the summertime since the building has no air conditioning, so water bottles are always a good idea.
  • Preservation Hall is a great place for families that want to enjoy New Orleans jazz while avoiding the party scene on Bourbon Street.
