Activity Overview

Opened in 2012, the Perot Museum aims to “amaze your brain.” The eleven permanent exhibition areas are enhanced by special exhibits. Don’t know where to start? Ten pre-planned journeys are offered for your convenience online to help you take self-guided tours.

Popular themes include dinosaurs, flight, minerals and more. This “Find Your Own Adventure” guide is a great way to navigate the large museum which spans two different campuses; one at Victory Park and the other 3.5 miles away at Fair Park. Admission includes both areas.

Things to See & Do

The Victory Park building hosts the Moody Family Children’s Museum, conveniently located on the first level of the five-level building designed by Pritzker Architecture Prize Laureate Thom Mayne. The Moody room was created with ages five and under in mind.

Also on the first level is the Wolfgang Puck Café, which offers a children’s menu and indoor or al fresco seating. Food options include gluten-free and kosher. Food and drink are also welcome in the movie theater.

The mineral collection is located on the third floor and features a 1.5 ton purple geode as well as a fifty pound gold nugget. Other areas to explore teach about evolution, energy, birds and experiencing music or robots with the latest technology from Texas Instruments.

The 4D Hoglund Foundation Theater is ADA accessible and offers an official National Geographic film experience. Exclusive premieres, events and guests are often scheduled. (There are other interactive National Geographic areas in the museum.) The films are an additional charge or can be purchased as part of an admission package.

Movie goers will feel like they are flying with the butterflies, walking with the dinosaurs or hanging out with pandas or even transported to the rainforest.

The Fair Park campus has been open since the 1936 Texas Centennial celebration. Exhibits here are titled “Light Play” and “Mineral Majesty.” Historical dioramas of Texas are housed here as well, in this vintage Art Deco building with nostalgic appeal.

Perot Museum of Science and Nature Insider Tips

  • Admission prices are based on four different age levels. Although different areas may have additional fees, options include customizable package deals. Admission to the Fair Park building alone is a steal at $1.
  • If you prefer to see state-of-the-art interactive technology exhibits, (and have limited time), head to the Victory Park campus first. The Fair Park location is most pleasing to history buffs that will enjoy this vintage Art Deco space.
