Activity Overview
Everyone loves to receive a handwritten note in the mail. My children ask daily if there is any mail in the mailbox for them. Most often, there is disappointment and I explain to them that oftentimes you need to send a letter in order to receive one. This is the perfect opportunity to put those good intentions to work and do just that. Bring some joy to a friend or family member's day and make these homemade Patchwork Postcards made from items that would normally be tossed aside. You might just receive something in return.
Materials Needed
- Cardboard from cereal or snack boxes
- Mod Podge
- Foam Brush
- Scraps of fabric in different designs
How To Make Them
- Cut your empty boxes into rectangles that measure 4 /14 inches X 6 inches.
- Cut or use fabric scraps that you have one hand and set aside.
- Using your foam brush, apply a thin layer of Mod Podge starting in one corner and moving across the colored side of the cardboard.
- Cover the entire side with bits of different fabrics.
- Allow to dry.
- When the decorative side is completely dry, flip it over and address and write our your postcard. Place a stamp on it and send to a friend.
