Activity Overview
Tulsa's Oxley Nature Center offers 804 acres of wildlife and natural habitats to the public. It is a sanctuary where you can come and take a time out from the business of day to day life. It is also home to the Oxley-Yetter Interpretive Center where you can go to learn about the local wildlife with interactive exhibits.
Things to Do
- The Center is a perfect destination for hikers. There is a multitude of trails which people can use. Almost all the trails are under a mile long so they are perfect for people of all abilities. It also means that children shouldn't have a hard time either.
- Go onto the center's website for a brochure that has descriptions of all the trails. There are also maps of both the park's Oxley trail and the North Woods trail.
- There is plenty of wildlife at the Center. It is home to over 200 species of birds and some 50 species of butterflies. It is also home to a great variety of flora. Wildflowers grow from February until October, if you come in October and November you will see the leaves changing colors for Fall.
- While here you should walk to the Redbud Nature Preserve. This is a beautiful area that is some to some very rugged and unique nature. The trails here are more challenging than in the Oxley Nature Center but they provide a fantastic experience for walkers.
