O'Bannon Woods State Park

Activity Overview

Bordering on the Ohio River, O'Bannon Woods State Park (formerly Wyandotte Woods State Recreation Area) offers hiking trails, horseback riding, boating and many more opportunities for enjoyment of the great outdoors. O'Bannon takes up approximately 2300 acres but is part of the Harrison Crawford State Forest, which offers an additional 24,000 acres for visitors to explore.

Along with the outdoor activities, O’Bannon Woods Park has several interesting features, such as a working haypress barn that uses oxen for power, a pioneer farmhouse, and a Nature Center open year-round with a friendly and informative staff.

Things to Do

• Take advantage of the many outdoor activities such as biking, horseback riding, fishing, canoeing, hiking and camping.
• There are quite a few hiking trails to choose from ranging from easy to rugged. Most are about 2 miles and are fun the the whole family. Be sure to wear proper footwear when hiking.
• Enjoy a picnic lunch.
• Visit the Family Aquatic Center for some swimming and fun water slides.
• The Corydon Capitol State Historic Site is located near the park. Visitors can learn about early Indiana history as they tour the beautiful first state capitol building, built entirely of limestone, and old town square.
