Activity Overview
The Museum of Science & History (also known as MOSH), is found in the South Bank of Jacksonville, next to the St John's River, and across the Main Bridge from Downtown Jacksonville. It is easily accessible via Interstate I-95. Its exhibits mostly cater to the history and wildlife of Northeast Florida, and of course, science.
Things to Do
- Wander around the exhibits - There are plenty of them, spanning a few floors. There is a
- See the animals - in the garden of the museum, they have a small area where they rescue animals (some found in the Hixon Native Plant Courtyard, some are in the Florida Naturalist's Center). Their most famous resident is an alligator snapping turtle, Tonca, and there are also owls, an opossum, and gopher turtles. You can touch some of the residents during special program times at the museum.
- Watch the Extreme Science Show - a hands on approach science, its very informative! If they ask for volunteers, don't be afraid to do so, it's lots of fun!
- Watch a Planetarium Show- only available on certain times, but definitely worth it
- Other events also happen at MOSH after hours, teaching kids and adults alike with various things like Beer brewing, and other educational programs. Additionally, every first Friday of the month, there is a lights & sounds show called the Cosmic Concerts, additional ticketing fee apply.
Museum of Science and History Insider Tips
- The museum is partnered with Bank of America. During the first weekend of every month, BoA offers free entry to the museum if you have a BoA credit or debit card. All you need to do is show your card and gain free admission!
