Activity Overview
For a mere $2 per person, one can view the exhibit halls of Providence's Museum of Natural History and Planetarium, which include hundreds of thousands of artifacts from sites around the world. And for only $3 extra, take in a Planetarium show.
Found on display are dozens of preserved birds, animals, and insects, along with masks and tools from various cultures and displays explaining the wonders of the universe.
Things to Do
- View the live beehive, birds of Rhode Island and Victorian parlor collections.
- Encourage younger visitors to participate in one of the museum's Quests, a scavenger hunt which will make exploring fun.
- Take very young visitors to see what is on hand at the craft activity table.
Museum of Natural History and Planetarium Insider Tips
- The museum is closed 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the first Monday of every month, October through June.
- Planetarium shows are offered at 2:00 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday throughout the year but daily during July and August and during Rhode Island's February and April school vacation weeks.
- Planetarium tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis, and seating is limited. Shows last approximately 35 minutes.
- Children under age 4 are not allowed in the planetarium.
