Activity Overview

Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art is located not far from Water Tower Place in the central downtown area. It is amongst the largest contemporary art spaces in the world. There are regularly changing exhibits which are aimed at everyone from aficionados to the general public. The museum also offers programs for schools, families, teens and kids to open up Contemporary Art to all ages.

Things to Do

• On the second Saturday of each month the Museum hosts a Family Day. On these days activities are organized for kids in conjunction with the current exhibitions taking place at the museum.
• The museum has a group called the Teen Creative Agency aimed at getting teens more involved in art. They learn to critically evaluate art, share their ideas and opinions with others and organize events for other teens at the museum.
• Stroller Tours are available on the first Wednesday of each month. On these tours you can explore the museum's exhibits with other parents and carers with your young child and stroller in tow.

Museum of Contemporary Art Insider Tips

• Members of the military, the fire and police departments as well as children under 12 can gain admission for free. All Illinois residents are entitled to free entry on Tuesdays.
• Free Daily tours are offered from Tuesday through to Sunday. The tour lasts 30 - 45 minutes and begin at 1,2 and 6 p.m on Tuesdays, 1 p.m from Wednesday to Friday and at Noon, 1, 2 and 3 on Saturdays and Sundays.
