Activity Overview

Mud Creek Park is a 67 acre park located in the great city of San Antonio, one of the biggest cities in the Cowboy State of Texas. It's 17 miles from downtown San Antonio and only a small distance from the Thousand Oaks Family YMCA.

Things to Do

  1. Walking Trails - There is 1.4 miles of unmarked walking trails to be found at the park, perfect for a jog or a leisurely stroll. The trail loops around the park, but be careful when doing the trail due to the lack of good trail marks.
  2. Artistic Tile Installation - This small but cute installation contains colorful tiles painted by local artist Mark Schlesinger. It's a slightly strange but wonderful addition to a park bursting with trees and greenery.
  3. Wildlife- There is a nice amount of deer in the parks, so if you walk the trail and look carefully, you might be able to spot the beautiful animals grazing or relaxing in their environment. Be careful not to feed the wildlife though!
  4. Wildflowers - In addition to the deer, there is also a scattering of wildflowers that can be observed mainly in the spring.

Mud Creek Park Insider Tips

  • A San Antonio River Authority dam is beyond the park boundary, so take care not to visit the park during stormy weather!
  • The parking lot can be a bit unsafe, especially in the evening, so make sure to keep all valuables out of sight.
