Activity Overview
Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the greatest leaders in America's history. An international icon for those who value human dignity and the rights of people regardless of race, color or creed he had a profound impact on the society of the United States. His life's work has acted as the inspiration for numerous civil rights struggles that have used peaceful means to achieve their aims. The public are now welcome to visit his Birth Home, the Ebenezer Baptist Church where he practiced as a preacher and The Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change which was established by his wife in 1968.
Things to Do
- The only guided tour offered at any of the sites is available at Martin Luther King's Birth Home. Each tour is led by a park ranger and lasts for 30 minutes. The tickets for this tour are free. The rest of the buildings and exhibits included are self-guided tours.
- Children aged between 9 and 12 can take on the opportunity to become a Junior Ranger. All they have to do is pick up an Official Activity Booklet at the entrance and complete the activities inside. Once they are done they simply have to show the booklet to one of the sites rangers and they will get their Junior Rangers badge.
