Activity Overview

Lytle Park is a small urban park in the heart of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. It is named after the Lytle family, who are considered to be the founders of Cincinnati back in the 18th century. The land was originally used as the family's homestead, but was eventually bought by the city and converted into a park in the early 1900s. Today, it is the heart of the Lytle Park Historic District and is a beautiful place to spend some time outdoors.

Things to Do

  • Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the park's seasonal floral displays, which include brightly colored tulips and magnolias in the spring as well as chrysanthemums in the fall months.
  • Take a family photo with the immense 11-foot tall bronze statue of Abraham Lincoln. The famous sculpture was dedicated in 1917 by former president William Howard Taft and is unusual because it features Lincoln without a beard.
  • Visit the playground with your child and watch them as they play to their hearts' content.

Lytle Park Insider Tips

  • Bring along a picnic lunch and enjoy a family meal on the grass or one of the park's many benches.
  • Feel free to bring your dog along to get some exercise with the rest of the family.
  • If you have some spare time once you're finished exploring the park, consider visiting the nearby Taft Museum of Art, a historic house where President Taft accepted his presidential nomination that is now the site of a fascinating fine art collection.
