Activity Overview

The Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden is located on 127 acres of land near the majestic San Gabriel Mountains in Arcadia, just a short drive from the center of Los Angeles. It features hundreds of beautiful plants grouped together by their native geographical location as well as other themes.

For a family of nature lovers, this nature site is a must-see attraction. In addition to its many gardens, it is also home to a flock of approximately 200 peafowl that stroll the grounds and surrounding neighborhoods.

Things to Do

  • Explore the gardens! The Herb Garden is particularly interesting for young visitors since it is filled with items that are used to make medicines, textiles, spices, and other important items used in everyday life.
  • Visit the Tropical Green House to see the diverse collection of tropical plants, including thousands of gorgeous orchids.
  • While the gardens are the main attraction, you shouldn't skip visiting the historic buildings that also reside at the Los Angeles County Arboretum. One of the most famous buildings is the Queen Anne Cottage, which was built in the late 1800s. You can even take a tour of the inside to see its beautiful furnishings.
