Activity Overview

Take a walk through the Log Cabin Village in Fort Worth and get a true experience of the Texan pioneer days. With artifacts and true-to-life educational experiences, including 7 different cabins and an authentic schoolhouse, you'll escape into a 19th century retreat for the length of the tour.

Each cabin belonged to a Texas family, and during the tour you will learn about their history and their lifestyle, even interacting with some of the different activities unique to each cabin, including candle-making.

The Log Cabin Village is also perfect for the animal-lovers in your family. The Village is home to 3 resident cats who work hard on staff chasing leaves and accepting snuggles and scratches behind the ears. You can see them wandering around the cabin properties, lingering around the famous Reynolds Smokehouse, or enjoying the range of family friendly activities that happen at the Marine Schoolhouse.

Things to Do

  • The Marine Schoolhouse: As the original and only schoolhouse in Fort Worth during the 1870s, the renovated log building is decorated like a frontier school and used for the various events happening around the Village throughout the year. Take a picture with Santa at the school during the holidays or enjoy one of the many family-friendly classes offered in the schoolhouse, including candle-making and embroidery.
  • The Seela Cabin: This cabin is the only cabin that is completely hands-on and interactive in the village, with artifacts donated specifically to be touched and used by visitors to the Village; experience what life would have been like during the 1800s in Fort Worth and play with toys, cooking utensils, and fabrics used by the early Texas settlers.
  • Herb Garden: The garden is a gorgeous extension of the Village where herbs that would have thrived during the mid-1800s are cultivated and maintained by volunteers and staff; take a tour through the garden and, if you're interested, you can volunteer and learn more about pioneer plant life.
