Lake Overholser is a reservoir in Oklahoma City that was named after former mayor Ed Overholser. It is located along U.S. Route 66, and is considered to be one of the most beautiful sections of the original historic road. Swimming and camping aren't allowed at Lake Overholser, but there's still plenty of fun to be had while fishing, boating, hiking, cycling, jet skiiing, and playing sports such as soccer and tennis. If you're in need of some fresh air and time with your family in the great outdoors, Lake Overholser is a great place to visit.

Things to Do

• Take a boat out on the lake and enjoy the scenic views while fishing, or enjoy the thrill of jet skiing!
• When you visit the lake, make sure to drive over the Lake Overholser Bridge, a beautiful bridge constructed between 1924 and 1925 that was an important part of historic Route 66.
• Visit the playground and the duck pond, which are both popular with children of all ages.
• Get some exercise by playing soccer or frisbee on the sports fields, or a game of tennis on the tennis courts.

• Bring along some food and drinks and enjoy a family meal in one of the picnic pavilions! Grills are also available if you want to have a barbecue.
• If you have a sailboat, Lake Overholser has boat ramps that will allow you to take it out onto the water.
• Consider biking the 5.3-mile Hefner-Overholser Trail on a nice day, which follows alongside a canal that connects Lake Hefner and Lake Overholser.
• Make sure you have the appropriate city and state permits for boating and fishing before you arrive.
