Activity Overview
J.M Davis was an avid collector of guns. In fact the collection he gave to the J.M David Arms & Historical Museum is the largest private collection of guns in the world. But that was not the only thing which he left to the Museum. There is a huge variety of artifacts on display here to be enjoyed by the public at no cost of admission. So once you have admired the arms you can see musical instruments and music boxes, knives, World War 1 posters, swords, saddles, steins, Native American artifacts, John Rogers statuary and much more.
Things to Do
- While the Museum is home to many interesting pieces the stars of the show are definitely the guns. Here you can see 13,000 different firearms, a staggering 11,000 of which came from J.M Davis' own personal collection. From the earliest Chinese hand canons up to modern machine guns the full history of the firearm is represented in the Museum's exhibits.
- The Museum's outlaws exhibit contains real artifacts from many of the most well-known gangsters and outlaws from the 1920s and 1930s. That includes the guns with which some of these men committed their crimes. Plus you can see the shackles, leg irons, ball-and-chains, and strait jackets that were used to restrain criminals at the time and the hangman's noose and hood which was reserved for the worst.

- Though admission to the Museum is free they are happy to accept any donations you want to give.
- The Museum is closed on Sundays from October to March. It is open during the fairer months of the year however.
