The 900-foot-long carrier Intrepid is a draw in its own right; it survived six attacks during its service in World War II and Vietnam.
History buffs will be drawn to the artifacts and historic video footage, but kids will most likely just want to goggle at the wealth of vintage and modern airplanes, which stand wing to wing in all their historic glory.
Museum admission includes a tour of the US Growler, the only American strategic missile submarine that is open to the public. Learn what it was like to serve on a submarine and get a rare look at its missile command center.
See the historic British Airways Concorde plane that set a record for a trans Atlantic crossing in 1996. This plane made the trip in less than 3 hours!
Learn about the Space Shuttle program at Space Shuttle Pavilion, where you'll see the shuttle Enterprise and related exhibits.
For interactive fun, visit the Exploreum. Located on the Hangar Deck, it's a 13,000 square foot space that invites kids (and parents) to climb into an actual lifeboat and a Bell 47 helicopter, and learn about air, water, space, and life at sea through dynamic exhibits and experiments.
