Combine the Science of friction in this fun magic trick which will challenge audience members of all ages and strengths. In this experiment, you will shuffle the pages of two books together, push the books in close together, and say a few magic words as you do it. Announce to your audience that your magic spell will cause the books to become inseparable. Challenge an audience member to pull apart your magically linked books while holding the books by their bindings.
Materials Needed
- 2 books of equal size
- a table
How To Do It
- Place two books on a table with their pages facing each other and touching.
- As if you had a deck of cards, use your hands to shuffle the pages of the book together.
- After you are done with a thorough shuffle, press the two books together as much as you can.
- Challenge a volunteer in your audience to hold the bindings of the books and pull to separate the books. They will be unsuccessful every time.
