Activity Overview

Discovered in the 1960s, Inner Space Cavern is one of the most amazing natural wonders in Texas. Over 7,000 feet of the cave is explorable, and Inner Space offers many different touring options to accomodate visiting families. There are also fossil displays, a mining area for children, and a playground for the younger ones.

Inner Space Cavern offers special packages for educational and scouting tours as well as school field trips, making it an ideal vacation destination for elementary and middle schoolers with specific school projects or school-related goals.

Things to Do

  • Adventure Tour: This is the most popular tour and requires no reservation. A guide will take you and your famiy through a well-lit path in the cave and explain how the natural wonder came about.
  • Scouting Tours: For geology buffs, Inner Space Caverns can design tours around you and your goals and give you a unique tour of the cave. 10-20 group minimum; reservation required.
  • Sister Caves Tour: For everyone, this tour explores all of the natural wonders surrounding Inner Space Caverns, including nearby caves, Indian burial grounds, and local wildlife..
  • Hidden Passages Tour: This intermediate tour will take you through the newly opened and narrower paths through the cave. Expect to crawl! Children under 7 are not allowed on this tour.
  • Wild Cave Tour: For teens and parents, a guide will lead you through the undeveloped areas of the cave. Expect to get down and dirty in the narrowest paths. Teens under 18 will need parental consent in order to take the tour.

Inner Space Cavern Insider Tips

  • Dress properly. Closed-toed shoes and sneakers are required on every tour of the caves, and it is recommended that you dress warmly.
  • The tours are recommended for children over the age of 4. Strollers are not allowed into the caves, and there is a lot of walking, climbing, and crawling involved.
