Activity Overview
Idle Wild is one of the most prolific recreation centers in the U.S, located a few miles from Pittsburgh. It was established in 1878 when William Darlington, was granted the right to use his land for picnic purposes. It offers a wide range of fun games and sports. Inside Idle Wild is the Storybook forest, a park where kids can meet characters from their story books.
Parents can also revisit their youth as previous characters are also on display. The place is inspired by the harmonized Mister Rogers neighborhood. The meet and great amusement park introduces the imagination and character of Rogers Fred to the current generation of kids.

- Treat your kids at the alligator swamp, pulling rafts across the swamp located in the Jumpin’ jungle.
- Visit Safari hut and see the amazing wildlife in the Jumpin’ jungle.
- Enjoy visiting the confusion hill, located in Hootin’ Holler’ and experience overwhelming illusions, tricks and fascinating stories.
- Relieve your nerves by sliding at Bigfoot mudslide, located in the Jumpin’ jungle.
Insider Tips
- On May 22nd and 23rd, gates are open from 9:30a.m and close at 6:00p.m.
- On August 17th to September 1st, some attractions, and food stands remain closed.
- On September 6th to 14th, the soak zone remains closed and on October 4th to October 26th, the soak zone remains closed together with Wild Mouse and Ricky Racers.
