• Take a photo of the famous Hollywood Sign, one of Los Angeles' most famous landmarks. The 45-foot tall letters were originally created in the 1920s to advertise area real estate, but over the years it has become one of America's most famous cultural landmarks due to its frequent use in films.

• If you're wanting to cycle around the Hollywood Reservoir, use the paved road that encircles the reservoir for a smoother ride.
• Not sure where to park? There's often space on Lake Hollywood Drive near the gated entrance to the reservoir.
• Don't be tempted to bring your dog along on your family excursion - dogs are not allowed into the reservoir area since it is part of the city's water storage and supply system.
• Visit nearby Griffith Park, the largest park in Los Angeles, for even more nature sightseeing. Family-friendly activities you can do at the park include swimming, horseback riding, jogging, camping, and playing tennis.
