Activity Overview
The Holden Arboretum is a relaxing and beautiful location where you can get away from it all. It also makes a nice destination for a young family's day trip out. It is home to a visitor's center and a number of gardens which include a butterfly garden, a display garden, a wildflower garden and two rhododendron gardens. Events such as wine tastings and fun runs are organized throughout the year.
Things to Do
- Probably the biggest draw at the Holden Arboretum is its extensive trails which are open to the public to explore. There are trails long and short which will appeal to various different levels of fitness and ability.
- Try organize a guided tour of Stebbins Gulch while you are visiting Holden Arboretum. This deep ravine is a wondrous natural feature. It is home to its own microclimate and the marine sedimentation on some of its exposed rock dates back thirty million years. The ravine is two hundred feet deep at its deepest point while the gulch is five hundred feet at its widest point. It is home to six cascades and waterfalls. The guided tour of the area lasts for 1.8 miles.
- Lantern Court is a beautiful home built during the 1930s which Holden Arboretum use for special and private events. The manor is a beautifully designed and well maintained residence that has retained the charm of its era.
Holden Arboretum Insider Tips
- Active military personal and their family are granted free admission. Children under five also get in for free. There is a significant discount for youth up to 18 years of age and for seniors.
