Activity Overview
A 20-minute drive northeast of Louisville brings you to Henry's Ark Petting Zoo, a sizable farm featuring quite a menagerie of animals like camels, llamas, sheep, bison, yaks, goats, peacocks, zebras, emus, waterfowl, buffalo and and rabbits with which children can get up close and personal.
Things to Do
- Watch for some of the smaller animals, such as the goats, ducks and chickens, which roam outside the enclosures and are willing to be pet. Don't miss the big ol' pot-bellied pig!
- Spy the piebald peacock in the poultry pen. If you are lucky you may encounter this fine peacock strutting around in full plumage.
- Admire the more exotic animals, which include a camel, a zebra and some emus.
Henry's Ark Petting Zoo Insider Tips
- Admission is free, but donations are very much appreciated.
- Henry's Ark is open year-round from Tuesday - Sunday and is closed on Mondays
- There are no public restrooms. There is a McDonald's with restrooms about a mile away.
- It is important that no outside bread or cereal should be fed to the animals. It will make them sick.
- If you follow Henry's Ark on Facebook, you'll be informed about fun events like "Cash Mob Days" where for a small donation ($10 per family) you'll get to visit the animals, plus receive some sort of nifty gift bag.
