Activity Overview

Looking for a challenge? Test your skills as you conquer one of the three new summer ropes courses at Heavenly, featuring rope bridges, swinging logs, cargo nets, ladders, walkways and other climbing features, all within the safety of a harness. Each course varies in difficulty and provides a different experience. A great for the entire family.

Things to See & Do

In addition to the 3 different ropes courses, the mountain top (fee-based) activities also include summer tubing, a a number of climbers and a Climbing Wall, and a Zip Line. Most of the Summer Activities are an additional cost and you can purchase tickets at the base or when you get to the top.

Summer Tubing - Breeze down the amazing 500-foot-long hill, with a 65 foot vertical drop – without snow or water! A specially designed tubing surface on the mountain will keep you giggling and gliding all summer long. The minimum height to tube is 42 inches.

Zip Line - Enjoy incredible views of Lake Tahoe as you glide through the sky on Heavenly’s 3,300-foot-long zip line. With top speeds at 50 miles per hour, this is a great way to get your adrenaline fix all while soaking up the beautiful California sunshine and refreshing mountain air. Must weigh between 75 lbs and 275 lbs. to zip.

Playground - There is a small playground for younger children that is free to use.

Hiking Trails - There are marked hiking trails that lead to the summit of the mountain providing even more amazing views of the lake and the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Grab lunch or a snack at the lodge at the top, or at the base (we recommend the Driftwood Cafe, but there are a number of options).

Shop - there are lots of fun stores to shop around in at the Gondola base, including a fantastic candy store, and all sorts of sportswear shops.

Grab a shaved ice - the Heavenly Donut stand right outside the Gondola sells donuts and giant shaved ices.

Heavenly Gondola Rope Course Insider Tips

  • Visitors must purchase scenic Gondola ride to reach zip line and Adventure Peak activities.
  • While each course is self-guided, professional staff are on-sight to serve as experiential guides during this challenging adventure.
  • Allow 1.5 - 2 hours to complete the ropes course. Part of that time includes meeting with your guide and harnessing up, as well as learning how to work the safety equipment.
  • The ropes courses at the top are really fun! There are three course levels to choose from. The staff is really knowledgeable and we all felt very safe.
  • We recommend you wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move easily. Please also remember to wear closed-toe athletic shoes and dress in layers. The mountain air will be cooler at the top and on the observation deck than in town.
  • If you aren't up for actually doing the ropes courses, it is still fun to watch others take on the challenge.
  • The zip line actually crosses the state line between California and Nevada. There is also a cool sign (on the left of the Bear Lodge Building) that has the state of California shape on one side and the state of Nevada shape on the other that is cute for photo ops.
  • All activities are weather-dependent, please call 1800-Heavenly for the most current information.
