Activity Overview

The Hale Farm and Village was once the homestead of Jonathan Hale, a farmer who came to Ohio from Connecticut and settled here in the Western Reserve. Today this area falls within the area of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and is maintained by the Western Reserve Historical Society. With many original buildings still remaining from the 19th Century and interpreters and guides to help make the experience more real and informative the Hale Farm and Village makes a perfect destination for those who want to live about life was once lived in this part of the U.S.A

Things to Do

• Thanks to their impressive educational programs the Hale Farm and Village makes the perfect place for a school field trip. The standard Hale Farm and Village Tour can be run for groups from pre-Kindergarten up. It teaches them all about the cultural, economic and social history of Northeast Ohio through engaging hands on activities.
• A Child's life in Pioneer Ohio will demonstrate to kids from pre-Kindergarten age up to Grade 6 how people survived in the Pioneer Days. A Fugitive's Path meanwhile sees Grades 7 and up take on the role of a fugitive slave who encounters many shades of people during their bid for freedom along the Underground Railroad.

Hale Farm and Village Insider Tips

• Though general admission to the park is only offered from early June until October it is possible to book special reservation based programs at the facility from November through to December and February until April. The Farm and Village close every January for maintenance work.
