Activity Overview
Mounds built over 2000 years ago are preserved in several areas in Newark. These mounds were created by the Native Americans of the Hopewell culture. These areas are now open to the public as state parks and cultural sites. Together with the Octagon and Wright Earthworks, Great Circle Earthworks is recognized as a National Historic Landmark.
