Activity Overview

The Great Blacks in Wax Museum is full of history and photographs of black people in Baltimore and around the world who have had an impact on black history. It is the first wax museum in the city of Baltimore and the first wax museum of African America History. The museum's wax figures are incredibly lifelike and the exhibits on display are incredibly powerful to view. The exhibits feel so very real that you feel like you are transported back to a time when such events and treatment seems unfathomable.

Things to Do

  • Take tour through this emotional and educational museum which depicts, in wax, the journey of black people from "Then" to "Now"
  • School Trips

Great Blacks in Wax Insider Tips

  • Museum offers a 15% off price of admission for AARP members, Military, Teachers and Government employees when ID is presented
  • The museum depicts history not traditionally taught in school and some of the exhibits can be quite graphic and emotionally upsetting. It is an important part of history but something that families with small children should be cognizant of and prepared for.
  • This museum is in a state of disrepair and although the content is historically significant, it isnt in the best part of town and it is rather dreary inside. You have to get passed the physical appearance of the building because there is so much to learn in this museum about black history.
