In the heart of downtown Providence, visitors can find a vestige of the past - the home of Governor Stephen Hopkins, signer of the Declaration of Independence.

Built in 1707, this home was occupied by one of Rhode Island's premier leaders who served as a Merchant, Shipbuilder, ten-term Governor, Chief Justice of the Superior Court, Chancellor of Brown University and Member of the Colonial Congress.
