In the heart of downtown Providence, visitors can find a vestige of the past - the home of Governor Stephen Hopkins, signer of the Declaration of Independence.
Built in 1707, this home was occupied by one of Rhode Island's premier leaders who served as a Merchant, Shipbuilder, ten-term Governor, Chief Justice of the Superior Court, Chancellor of Brown University and Member of the Colonial Congress.

- Open Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., May through November.
- Open by appointment the rest of the year.
- Our country's very first leader, George Washington, was one of the home's guests on April 6, 1776.
